Pharmacy Informatics Specialist
Position Objective:
This position provides strategic direction, analysis, support, maintenance, data integration and customized solutions for pharmacy applications and databases used throughout the Anne Arundel Health System. Provides direction on project management and implementation activities for pharmacy systems related to the clinical practice. Specific responsibilities will be focused on communication with the vendors installation team, reviewing of the software, analysis of the business operations, and collaboration with vendor and end users to tailor the system to the organization. This position also participates in current state mapping and future state workflows development, application design and development, testing support, issues resolution, application integration, implementation and ongoing support activities. Supports other IS core processes and performs all other duties as assigned.

Provides application/database analysis and support, system integration, interface integration or customized application solutions for pharmacy applications used throughout the clinical departments. Develops documentation including specifications, interface maps, project plans and timelines, standards, policies, procedures, and task and issues logs.
Evaluate existing systems against strategic Informatics plan and recommend changes within the context of the plan. Continually monitor the operational impact of systems, user acceptance, and compliance with Informatics objectives. Revise and maintain documentation.
Provides pharmacy systems expertise, training, and other support as needed Determine system integration requirements and assure that information flows correctly between all applications.
Communicate appropriately with end users to understand their needs. Proceeds with appropriate actions that include Dictionary evaluation, design and use; Custom Report Writing; Programming; Application Development; Project management; Preparation of requirement documents for both internal and external development efforts. Assists in the development of hospital training manuals for assigned modules and coordinates training programs for assigned personnel.
Serves as the primary application support person for all assigned modules, troubleshoots problems, ensures correct information flow between applications and coordinates the projects as assigned. Assists in ensuring all department, hospital, Compliance, HIPAA and Joint Commission guidelines are met.
Works with other analyst as needed to ensure that a consistent model is applied throughout the information system.
Coordinates resolution of operational issues between the assigned applications and system support personnel. Train IS personnel in the use of system functionality and standards. Act as a resource for other IS staff on technical issues.
Serve as the primary contact for technical issues for secondary vendors with interfaces to the core applications. Serve as a day-to-day contact person between external application consultants and hospital personnel when needed. Assume responsibility for implementation of applications and coordinates activities with personnel assuming functional responsibility for operations.
Provides direction on project management and implementation activities related to the implementation of pharmacy systems data. Accountable for successful project outcome.
Performs application monitoring and planning, utilization tracking and reporting.
Educational/Experience Requirements:
The minimum level of education and experience for this position includes:
Degree in Pharmacy from accredited university
Five years of experience in a hospital pharmacy or related clinical areas. Expert knowledge of application systems and analyst tools
Project management experience
Superior organizational and people management skills
strong communication and interpersonal skills
Required License/Certifications:
Current Maryland license
