Medical Coordinator-Bariatric Surgery
Position Objective:
Coordinates the medical care of Bariatric patients in a high volume multi-faceted bariatric surgical center which job duties include community outreach, clinical support, clerical support, financial coordination, contact management and database management.

- Coordinates the required activities of a high volume multi-faceted bariatric surgical center to ensure a smooth and efficient patient navigation process.
- Participates in direct patient contact on a continuum.
- Performs community outreach to include, but not limited to: Bariatric Informational Seminars, support groups, community events and educational events.
- Provides patient education in regard to pre-surgical testing, insurance requirements, surgical pre- and post -operative instructions and overall program information.
- Coordinates the bariatric surgical process from pre-operative to post-operative care and counseling.
- Conducts surgical scheduling with patient, OR, Physician and insurance company.
- Coordinates the financial process to include, but not limited to, insurance submission / authorization, prepare and document specific requirements packaged for submission to multiple insurers, contact third party payers for authorization, approvals, denials and appeals. Assist in surgical financial coordination including self-pay patients, partial pay discussions, submitting payment plans and obtaining pre-surgical deposits for surgery.
- Gathers and interprets data in situations in which the information or problems are relatively routine.
- Schedule appointments, greets visitors, explains medical center policies, and relays messages to appropriate personnel. Responds quickly and appropriately to patient requests. Establishes rapport with customers.
- Maintains physicians clinic and operating room schedules. Obtains pertinent clinical information from a variety of sources.
Educational/Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience performing clerical duties in a medical setting.
