Position Objective:

The position is responsible for supporting the Sr. Director of Nursing Optimization, Operations & Strategy Planning - Luminis Health in the success of the Luminis Health strategic objectives and mission as they relate to system resources and affiliate site/local resources in Nursing Operations. The role collaborates with a local Director of Operations and Chief Nursing Officer and reports up to a System Sr. Director.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Manages personnel in Nursing Operations, including but not limited to Transporters, Sitters and Supplemental Staff
  2. Responsibilities include but not limited to: budget responsibility; identifies optimization opportunities to maximize staff productivity and efficiency, supports development of personnel and addresses issues as needed.
  3. Oversight of hiring and onboarding process, orientation and ongoing training/education, addressing performance issues and supports development of personnel.
  4. Works with the System Sr. Director Nursing Optimization and Operations, and System Director Nursing Operations to identify and implement optimization opportunities to maximize staff productivity and workflows and establish/evaluate operating procedures.
  5. Proactively monitors departmental operations to ensure adequate staffing coverage and closely collaborates with relevant stakeholders to ensure quality, patient safety, and efficiency to meet the needs of the organization.
  6. Collaborates with the System Director in the development of resources and optimized work flow in the department to manage patient throughput system-wide.
  7. Works with the System Director to monitor the departmental operations, patient flow tracking, and ADT information regarding hospital census and bed availability.
  8. Works with the System Director to monitor, develop, review and make recommendations to hospital leadership regarding programs, processes, and technologies affecting efficient throughput and staffing.
  9. With the System Director, manages and establishes standard operating procedures for bed board, patient sitters, administrative coordinators, and patient transport, as needed, to optimize throughput.
  10. Utilizes analytical and reporting capabilities and tools to support decision-making and improvement efforts; creates efficiencies and process changes through use of data and evidence-based practices.
  11. Works with Performance Improvement through lean activities to identify, formulate, recommend and implement changes in patient flow to ensure the success of strategic objectives.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree required
  • Master of Science in Nursing Degree preferred
  • Minimum of three (3) years of advanced clinical practice in a broad spectrum of nursing disciplines and the ability to guide clinical practice, professional development, research and evidence-based practice
  • Previous experience managing people or team lead position
  • Experience with data analytics, data interpretation and presentation preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and concisely both verbally and in writing with individuals and groups at various organizational levels and of various disciplines.

Required License/Certifications:

  • Current licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland is required.
  • American Health Association Healthcare Provider BLS

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, evolving priorities and make timely decisions.
  • Proven ability to use data/business analytics to drive change.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively engagement in organizational change, including making recommendations, supporting implementation, and monitoring sustainability.
  • Ability to provide leadership in a team environment, with the highest degree of professional and personal integrity.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness as a group leader and participant, collaborating with a broad spectrum of stakeholders across the enterprise.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, develop conceptual designs and organize successful projects.
