Manager - Environmental Services
Position Objective
Directs and oversees operational needs of the Environmental Services Department and guides the duties of supervisory staff. Oversees the daily operations of the department. Manages staff, and provides supervisors with consistent directions and resources. Assists with the development on the department budget, goals, policies and procedures and objectives; achieving goals by measureable process improvements (metrics)

- Works with all levels of internal staff in all matter relating to the cleanliness of the facility and ensures Environmental Services Department meets the Joint Commission guidelines.
- Provides leadership and direction to the Environmental Services Department congruent with the hospital mission
- Assists Director in using all the available resources providing maximum productivity in accordance to established standards process.
- Plans and reviews critical projects with supervisors; coordinates with the leader of the affected department to minimize disruption in patient care.
- In collaboration with supervisors develops standardized workflows and processes to reduce cost by increasing operation efficiencies within the department.
- Promotes team building and collaboration by developing and maintaining effective working relationships within the department and with individuals and other AAMC departments.
- Establishes and maintains adherence to standards of quality service in the department. Collaborates with staff to seek and implement operations and system improvements that provide knowledge of LEAN initiatives to achieve desired results.
- Ensures every staff member receives ongoing training and information through daily shift huddles. Supports and encourages staff development. Encourage others to work in a self-directed manner to accomplish department and organizational goals.
- Monitors compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, and policy requirements, including JC, MOSHA/OSHA, all health, safety and sanitation regulations and all AAMC policies and procedures.
- Identifies staffing patterns and adapts to changes in staffing to effectively staff areas appropriately to ensure the highest levels of quality service throughout the facilities.
Educational/Experience Requirements:
- High school Diploma.
- Five years or more of specialized experience in Environmental/Linen services.
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
- Prior experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
- Flexibility to work hours on all three shifts and weekends and will be responsible for covering during the absence of a supervisor on any of the shifts.
